You’re not late to the party

"I’m too late to AI."
I hear this almost every day now.
And honestly, I thought the same…
…back in 2021 🤣
And every time, I think back about it - I just can’t help myself but smile about it.
Let me tell you a story that might change your perspective...

The "We Missed GPT-3" Panic 😅

It was winter 2020/2021. We had just gotten access to GPT-3 after months of trying.
But we felt like we were showing up to a party that was already over:
  • GPT-3 had launched 6 months earlier
  • Copy(.ai) and others were already dominating
  • All the "good use cases" seemed taken
  • Every cool idea had been done
Or so we thought.
You know what we built anyway? Tweet Hunter.
Yes - the 8m startup we sold was based on the thinking that we were ‘too late’.
Don’t be so hard on yourself.

Here's What Most People Miss 🎯

While we're all doom-scrolling Twitter about AI, here's the reality:
We're in a bubble. A big one.
When I talk to my friends and family, when I step outside the tech Twitter space, I realize something very different:
Most people have barely heard of ChatGPT.
For them, AI = ChatGPT (that is if they know) and the use case is their kids cheating on homework.
Crazy.
While you’re thinking that you’re late — there are millions of potential customers waiting for the right tool for them. Most unaware about AI. Yet.
Think about:
  • Lawyers still drowning in paperwork
  • Bakers managing their businesses on paper
  • Nurses dealing with endless documentations
  • Local businesses struggling with marketing strategy
To them, AI isn't "saturated." It hasn't even started.

The Real Opportunity 💡

The opportunity isn't just in building AI products anymore. Especially the same thing every other indie maker is building.
It's in:
  1. Finding these untouched niches
  1. Taking them by the hand
  1. Teaching them how AI can transform their work
  1. Making it dead simple to use
Teaching your customers and educating them about the opportunity is the key here.
Your customers don’t us AI like you do. They need education - 1. About the concept 2. About the product And if you’re the person they learn from - who do you think they’ll buy from?
In some sense - you create your own market.

Where to Focus Now

The magic isn't just in distribution anymore. It's in activation and education.
Think about it:
That baker doesn't care about your "next-gen AI"
They care about solving their problems. They need someone to show them how. They need it to be simple. They need to trust you.
That's your opportunity.

The Truth About Timing

Every single time in history, people thought they were "too late."
  • Too late for the internet
  • Too late for mobile
  • Too late for social media
  • Too late for crypto
  • Too late for AI
And every single time, they were wrong.

Your Next Move

  1. Stop worrying about being late
  1. Find a niche that hasn't been transformed by AI (think non-digital customers)
  1. Build something simple for them
  1. Show up where they are (hint: probably not Twitter)
  1. Teach them, guide them, help them succeed
The tools are better than ever. People are more open to trying new products than ever. AI is creating new use cases every single day.
You're not late. You're right on time.
Hit reply and tell me in 1 word — in what niche do you think AI can completely change the game?
