"Can you add this feature?" "Would be nice if it could do this..." "Have you thought about adding..."
My inbox is flooded with feedback these days. Every founder's dream, right? (or not?)
But here's what most people don't tell you - getting tons of feedback is like drinking from a firehose. If you try to catch everything, you'll drown.
After building startups for the past 10 years, and B2B SaaS for the last 5 — I've learned something crucial:
People complaining is not a bad thing Nobody talking about your product is.

Two weeks in, and the growth is honestly wild.

But more than the numbers, what's exciting is seeing why it's working.
In my opinion - it’s 2 things:
1 - People are loving out positioning
"Outrank your competitors" - simple, clear, powerful.
2 - We operate differently
While other blog generators give you a blank canvas and a blinking cursor, we practically force you to:

  • Follow our SEO strategy
  • Stay consistent
Some people hate this. They want more flexibility. More control. But here's the thing - we're not building another generic tool.
We're building a solution that actually works.
It's like having a tough personal trainer. You might not like the strict diet and workout plan, but you'll thank them when you see the results.

The Long Game Always Wins

There's an important principle here for all the builders:
Don't give people what they want. Give them what they need.
In the short term, you'll lose some customers. They'll complain about the lack of flexibility. About how restrictive your product is.
But in the long term? No one can beat you.
Because while others are building Swiss Army knives, you're building the perfect hammer for a specific nail.
Optimize for use success.
That’s the only thing that matters.

The Real Way to Handle Feedback

Now, let's talk about something that's been on my mind a lot lately - handling user feedback.
Most founders get this completely wrong.
They think complaints are bad. That "the customer is always right." That every piece of feedback needs to go into a backlog.
After years of building products, I've developed a different approach.

The 10-Minute Rule

When feedback comes in, I first ask: "Can I fix this in 10 minutes?" If yes, I do it immediately.
No backlog. No task list. Just fix it.
With AI tools, it's surprising how many "big features" are actually quick fixes. Try it.

The Rule of 3

For bigger features, I wait until I hear it three times. Not in a spreadsheet kind of way. But when the third person mentions the same thing, it rings a bell.
Your brain is better at pattern recognition than any tracking system. Trust it.

Vitamins vs Painkillers

Here's the most important part:
About 80% of feedback you get is about vitamins - nice-to-have features that make people feel good. With small impact on the business.
But what moves the needle? Painkillers.
The must-have features that solve real pain points.
Users rarely tell you about painkillers directly. You have to read between the lines. Understand the core problem they're trying to solve.

TLDR;
> Fix the small stuff fast > Wait for patterns in bigger requests > Keep your backlog tiny > Focus on solving pain, not adding features

Remember: Your job isn't to implement every feature request.
It's to solve core problems in an opinionated way.
Sometimes that means saying no to good ideas.
Often it means forcing users to do what's best for them.
Always it means staying focused on the real problem you're solving.
Building what users ask for isn't the same as building what users need. The art is knowing the difference.
