In time like these, I remind myself of this quote:
"Pessimists are right, but optimists get rich."
That hits hard. It always does.
Because here's the truth: the people who built amazing things weren't fearless. They were terrified too. They just built anyway.
10 Reasons to Stay Optimistic in 2025 🚀
When fear creeps in, I remind myself of what's actually happening in the world:
1. AI is democratizing creation
More solo founders are building 7-figure businesses than ever before. The tools are insane. This is good for everybody.
2. Distribution is easier than ever
TikTok, X, YouTube - the organic reach potential today makes 2020 look prehistoric. You can be a nobody and go viral.
3. Remote work is the new normal
Build from anywhere. Hire from anywhere. Live anywhere. This was a dream 5 years ago. Not anymore.
4. No-code failed. But AI took over fast.
People are building real, profitable products without writing a line of code. It’s not a fad now (like no-code which made almost useless products). AI can create real and working products without coding.
5. Funding alternatives are exploding
Tiny, Calm Fund, Indie VC - you don't need silicon valley to get money anymore.
There are a lot more companies, creators, and people investing in good stuff.
6. The unbundling is creating opportunity
Big companies are being unbundled into thousands of smaller, more focused startups. Don’t build wide. Build narrow but deep. The market is not centralized anymore.
7. Trust is becoming the ultimate moat
In a world of AI and fake everything, authentic creators are winning big. Use this to your edge.
8. The creator middle class is growing
1,000 true fans is getting easier to find, not harder. And don’t let the social media fool you —1000 ‘right’ people are all you need.
9. Niche is the new big
You don't need to build for everyone. Build for a small group who LOVES what you do. Solve for 1 and many will pay you.
10. Prosperity is still expanding
Despite the doom and gloom, more people globally have internet, education, and opportunity than ever before. And that in itself is lovely!
The real secret:
Here's something I've learned after years of building:
The world rewards action in the face of uncertainty.
While everyone else is frozen by fear, the builders keep building.
They're not fearless. They're just willing to build scared.
My hack
When I feel paralyzed by fear, I do this:
- Write down my specific fear
- Ask "what's the worst that could happen?"
- Ask "could I survive that?"
- Take ONE small action today
That's it. Just one step forward.
Fear doesn't disappear. You just learn to build alongside it.
Maybe OpenAI will kill my next project.
Maybe the market will crash.
Maybe I'll fail spectacularly.
But I know this:
I'd rather be the optimist who tried than the pessimist who was right but built nothing.
