How this works
What was measured
- Every original post from 96 founders between Sep 15, 2026 and Oct 13, 2026 (UTC). That is 5,236 posts: 1153 videos, 2095 image posts, 1988 text posts.
- Views are the number X shows under each post. X uses the same counter for every format.
- Snapshot taken Oct 16, 2026. Every post was at least 2 days old, so most of its views were already in.
- Left out: replies, reposts, quote posts, GIFs, and posts with a link (links get their own reach penalty and would muddy the text group).
How the big number is built
- For each founder: median views of their videos, divided by median views of their text posts. Each founder is compared with themselves, so follower count cancels out.
- A founder counts in the headline when they posted at least 3 videos and 3 text posts in the window (96 of 96). The headline 1.1x is the median of those ratios. Images work the same way (92 founders, 0.82x).
- For context, the typical founder (the median, across founders, of each founder's own median views): Video 21K, image 11K, text 13K. Those numbers mix big and small accounts, so the ratio is the number to quote.
- Only founders who posted at least 3 videos and 3 text posts in the window are listed. Founders who posted fewer were dropped and replaced (Oct 16 update), so every row can be compared.
- This shows what happened, not why. Founders choose video for their launches and demos, which may be their best posts anyway.
Who is in it
Founders and CEOs with a real company behind them who post on X themselves, from big tech to indie hackers. Tai (Tibo's agent) picked 335 by hand, including founders found through their recent video posts, and 281 had posts in the window. The 96 shown are the ones with at least 3 videos and 3 text posts. Tibo is in it, and his own videos lose to his text. The two posts that started the argument: "destructive for reach" and "the most elite format".
